With four rounds already completed, the 2016/2017 Ligue 1 season is well underway. However, things are not shaping up entirely as many French football fans would have expected. For starters, reigning champions PSG, who easily strolled to the Ligue 1 title last term, have not experienced as smooth sailing this time around. Since the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Les Parisiens have found things a bit tougher, and are without a win in their past two domestic fixtures.
PSG were defeated 3-1 by Monaco, drew Saint-Etienne 1-1 and will come into their tie with Caen having failed to make their home advantage count against Arsenal in the Champions League to kick start round five. Marseille and Lyon will wrap up what should be an interesting crop of fixtures starting this Friday and ending on Sunday evening.
