Players to watch

Feyenoord

Captain Dirk Kuyt netted 23 goals for the Dutch side last season in all competition. The former Liverpool man faces a familiar opponent and could be prompted to prove a point in this clash. The same case applies to former Liverpool goalkeeper Brad Jones, who is expected to start between the sticks. Another player to keep an eye on is Eljero Elia, who had a loan stint at Southampton in the Premier League in 2015. The 29-year-old has already found the back of the net thrice in two appearances for the Pride of the South.

Man Utd

Teenager Marcus Rashford is expected to start in this game after a brilliant performance against City last weekend. It should be remembered that the Europa League is the competition that brought the England international into the limelight last season when he scored a brace on his Man Utd debut against another Dutch side - Midtjylland. He is set to replace Wayne Rooney, who was excluded from the travelling squad for this fixture. Defender Marcos Rojo is also set to start following Luke Shaw’s exclusion.

The Red Devils have fond memories of De Kuip – they beat Spanish giants Barcelona in 1991 in the final of the European Cup-Winners’ Cup at this venue. The visitors are expected to bounce back from their defeat to Pep’s men by registering a win here, but with the likes of Kuyt on the hosts’ side, it will not be a walk in the park for Mourinho’s men.
