Not so many times we come across moments like these in football.

It is official – sell Cristiano Ronaldo to another club, and he’ll score against you when the two sides meet. The Portugal international scored the equalizer for Real Madrid against his former club Sporting CP in their Champions League group stage fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu on Wednesday, something that did not go down quite well with the Primeira Liga outfit.

The 31-year-old curled in a brilliantly-taken free-kick in the 88th minute of the game to give the hosts the much-needed confidence to push for the equalizer with just seconds to go. Their efforts eventually paid off through Alvaro Morata in the last second of the game.

Ronaldo has now scored in every game he has played against his former club. But the goal against Sporting, a club that had introduced him to the world of football and stardom, was quite a bitter pill to swallow. The Lions took to Twitter to let their former star know exactly how wounded they were by the golazo. Check out the tweet below.

But on a brighter note, the Portugal captain refused to celebrate the goal as a show of respect for Jorge Jesus’ men. Sporting CP then added the following tweet:

Well, it appears there is no love lost between CR7 and his former employers. He was just doing his job as a professional.
