Team news
Schalke
Schalke endured a frustrating season-opener as they narrowly lost 1-0 to Eintracht Frankfurt. Unfortunately, it looks like they will face more disappointment this Friday. As noted before, die Königsblauen have not beaten Bayern Munich in nearly six years, and to complicate matters, they will be missing several players due to injury. Donis Avdijaj, Coke, Atsuto Uchida, and Fabian Giefer are among those unavailable for selection, meaning that new manager Markus Weinzierl will have to make some modifications for this fixture.
This game could see the debut of young striker Breel Embolo, who was the target of Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United before his move to Schalke. For all intents and purposes, this looks set to be a case of damage control, with the hosts attempting to hunker down and keep the score-line as decent as possible whilst attempting to hit back on the break.
Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich will be coming into this game having earned a resounding 6-0 win over Werder Bremen. Last season's top marksman, Robert Lewandowski, opened his account with a well-deserved hat-trick as die Roten bossed the match from start to finish. This match could see Ancelotti make some modifications, with one notable inclusion possibly being Renato Sanches.
The 19-year-old, who played a huge role in Portugal's Euro triumph this summer, has shaken off a thigh injury to resume training with his new team. Alongside Douglas Costa, Sanches will be named in the squad for the upcoming game, but it remains to be seen as to whether both will start or feature from the bench. Meanwhile, Arturo Vidal has just returned from international duty with Chile and likely will be rested for this game, whilst Arjen Robben may also make the bench. Jerome Boateng, however, is still unavaliable due to his own injury problems.
In addition, Ancelotti could opt to rotate his squad, especially considering Bayern's intense fixture list, which will see die Roten play a whopping seven matches between this Friday and October 1st.

Match facts and other historical stats - RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund
- This will be the first ever meeting between RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund
- Die Schwarzgelben have a knack for dispatching debutants. So far, they're unbeaten in their last nine matches against newly promoted sides and have won the past three meetings
- This is the second time Borussia Dortmund have played a competitive fixture against a team from Leipzig since facing VFL Leipzig in the 1993/1994 season
Team news
RB Leipzig
Some may call them upstarts and a "plastic club". Other may call them innovative. Whatever one thinks of RB Leipzig, they are here in the top flight, and will not go down without a fight. Founded only seven years ago, their objective was to achieve promotion to the Bundesliga within eight years.
Well, they've done just that. Die Bullen broke a slew of records along the way, including becoming the first side to achieve promotion to the 2. Bundesliga after just one season in the third tier. Ralph Hasenhüttl's side managed to secure their first-ever top flight point by battling to secure a 2-2 draw against Hoffenheim. They also are the first team from the former East Germany to be featuring in the Bundesliga since Energie Cottbus in the 2008/2009 term.
Borussia Dortmund
Back in the Champions League after a solid campaign, Borussia Dortmund will be hungry to finally end their long wait for silverware this season. Unfortunately, Thomas Tuchel's men couldn't get the better of serial opponents Bayern in the DFL-Supercup, but started their regular season off well with a 2-1 win over Tuchel's former side Mainz. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's brace was enough to give die Schwarzgelben their first victory of the nascent term, and with Robert Lewandowski one goal ahead, Bundesliga fans may be in for another interesting battle between the two strikers this season.
Die Schwarzgelben not only are unbeaten in 17 out of their last 18 Bundesliga fixtures, but have scored at least two goals in nine in their last 10 games. Fans will likely be in for an end-to-end affair, with RB Leipzig keen on putting on a good show for their home support and Dortmund looking to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season in order to keep pace with Bayern Munich.
