But where will the once Liverpool and Arsenal target be heading?

Today, Wednesday the 31st, is deadline day in the transfer market, meaning clubs and players alike are frantically working to get deals done before the window shuts close.

One of those players is Moussa Sissoko, who has long been vying for a Newcastle exit after the Magpies got relegated last season.

The Frenchman could finally get his wish, as France revealed via Twitter that the player has been granted a leave by Didier Deschamps in order to finalize a transfer.

"Moussa Sissoko was given authorisation by Didier Deschamps to leave Clairefontaine at 9am to finalise a transfer”

The Bleus ace has long been linked with a return to the English top-flight, but which club will be welcoming the 27-year-old? It’s none other than north London giants Tottenham, with the Sun reporting that he will soon complete a £30m White Hart Lane switch.

Sissoko opened up to L'Equipe earlier in August about his desire to leave St. James’ Park after shinning at Euro 2016, saying: "I was waiting for my time and it may be arriving. I feel ready to go to one of the big ones.

"It's flattering. Who would not be flattered by the interest of one the best clubs in the world, if not the best? Rejecting Real (Madrid) is difficult. Working under Zinedine Zidane could be something fantastic."

Although Los Blancos won’t really be rocked by missing out on the Frenchman, it will come as a blow to the likes of PSG and Arsenal who were keen on Sissoko but were put off by Newcastle’s high valuation.
