Sergio Aguero is set to miss Argentina's two upcoming World Cup qualifiers.

Argentina’s star forward Sergio Aguero is set to miss his country’s World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Venezuela due to injury. The Argentine FA confirmed the news through their official Twitter handle.

The Manchester City man sustained a calf injury during his club’s 3-1 win over West Ham at the Etihad last Sunday. He was substituted on the 88th minute of the game but the problem did not seem quite serious. His teammate, Javier Pastore, who plies his trade for PSG, will also miss the qualifiers due to injury.

Part of the statement published by the Argentine FA  on their official website read:

"The players (Sergio Aguero and Javier Pastore) have different injuries and will not be present in the selection for Argentina. For this reason they will not be present for this double round of qualifiers with the national team."

Meanwhile, the 28-year-old could also miss the next three Premier League fixtures, beginning with the Manchester Derby on September 10th, if found guilty of elbowing the Hammers defender Winston Reid. He was not booked by the referee for the incident and this could prompt the English FA to analyse the case and serve him with at least a three-month ban if found guilty.
