Alexandre Lacazette could miss up to three months of competitive football after picking up a knee injury last weekend.

After playing a game of cat and mouse with Arsene Wenger in the transfer market, Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette met an unfortunate fate last weekend. Firstly, the Ligue 1 giants suffered a humiliating 4-2 defeat to newly-promoted side Dijon on Saturday.

But despite scoring his sixth goal in three games for Lyon that evening, Lacazette was taken off the pitch with a knee injury, something that could affect his chances of playing for France, or making a late switch to Arsenal. He had been named in Didier Deschamps’ squad for the international friendly match against Italy on September 1st and the next fixture against Belarus.

The player is set to undergo a series of tests on Monday to determine the extent of his injury but reports in France suggest that he could be out for three months. And on Twitter, a section of Arsenal fans received the news of Lacazette’s injury with mixed emotions.

A majority of the Gooners were grateful that he did not sign for the North Londoners this summer, hence saving them yet another injury-infested season at a time when they are hoping to go an extra mile and win the league after finishing second last season. Was it a case of Karma or bad luck? Check out the tweets below and be the judge:
