Team news

Liverpool

This upcoming term will be Jurgen Klopp's first full season in charge of the Reds. Unfortunately, the German tactician was unable to guide them to secure a European football spot during the 2015/2016 campaign, and as such the team will have to contend themselves with domestic affairs for now. It's been a pretty successful pre-season thus far for Liverpool, with only one loss - the aforementioned reversal to Chelsea - out of their past six games.

With Arsenal being their first opponents once the new season kicks off, Klopp, although confident in his team, is nonetheless expecting them to further improve:

Roma

Meanwhile, Luciano Spalletti's side have been in the USA since last week and have been dutifully preparing for their first major pre-season friendly. Prior to their upcoming clash with Liverpool, Roma took on lower-tier side Pinzolo and Russian outfit Terek Grozny. Both matches resulted in wins, with the Lupi cruising to a 16-0 victory in the first one and powering to a 3-2 result in the second. However, one of their new signings, Portuguese defender Mario Rui, will not be making the trip after suffering an ACL tear during a training session.

Following the tie with Liverpool, Roma will lock horns with Montreal Impact before commencing their Champions League qualifying campaign via a two legged playoff.
