Team news

Liverpool

Unfortunately for Liverpool, not only will they be coming into this game off the back of a loss, but they also will have to make do without one of their new signings. German shot-stopper Loris Kanus, who was purchased for about £4.7 million at the start of this month from Mainz, broke his hand during the tie against Chelsea and is now set to be out of action for a couple of months. However, another new acquisition, Estonian defender Ragnar Klavan, should be able to feature despite being on the receiving end of a nasty tackle from Cesc Fabregas that saw the Spaniard sent off.

Jurgen Klopp is expected to mix things up a bit for this game. Key personnel like Jordan Henderson, James Milner ,and Simon Mignolet could all start for the first time during this summer's pre-season campaign, whilst the German tactician could again field some youngsters alongside more experienced players.

Following this match, Liverpool will take on another Italian opponent, Roma, before clashing with Spanish giants Barcelona, followed by Bundesliga outfit Mainz. The Reds first will face off against Arsenal in what will be a very interesting opening match to the 2016/2016 Premier League campaign.

AC Milan

Another season, another new face on the tactician's bench. Since Massimiliano Allegri's sacking, Milan have gone through a slew of coaches, and the new man in charge for the Rossoneri will be ex-Sampdoria and Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella. The club have been reportedly put up for sale by owner Silvio Berlusconi, but the ongoing saga between the demanding president and reported Chinese buyers looks set to continue for the rest of the summer.

For the third straight year, there will be no Champions or Europa League football for Milan, who once were regarded as among the strongest teams in Italy and in Europe. The Rossoneri have been very quiet during this summer's transfer market, with only Pescara's Gianluca Lapadula coming in for about €9 million plus Argentinian defender Leonel Vangioni on a free from River Plate.

In fact, Milan have seen more departures than arrivals, with players like Kevin Prince Boateng, Mario Balotelli, Philippe Mexes, and Stephan El Shaarawy all leaving due to either expired contracts, unused loan options, or, in El Shaarawy's case, being purchased by other clubs (Roma). This upcoming game will be an interesting one in particular for both Gabriel Paletta and Suso, especially given that the duo spent some time on the books at Liverpool before arriving at their current club. Meanwhile, Jeremy Menez and Carlos Bacca are among those set to depart the Stadio San Siro before the transfer window closes next month.
