Pep Guardiola aims to take Manchester City back to the top of the English Premier League, and the Spaniard isn’t afraid to spend big to achieve that goal.
The Spaniard, who will guide the Citizens in only his second game in charge during their International Champions Cup clash with BVB, has already made three signings over the summer.
Having already spent £36.5m, the former Bayern Munich boss has welcomed Ilkay Gündogan (£21m), Nolito (£13.8m) and Oleksandr Zinchenko (£1.7m) to the Etihad since taking over. However, The Guardian claim that the 45-year-old is eyeing another three additions.
First on Guardiola’s wish list is German starlet Leroy Sane, the Schalke ace who looks set to join the Citizens. Manchester City have reportedly beaten out the competition in the race for the 20-year-old; however, the Premier League giants’ offer is £5m less than Schalke’s asking price.
Nonetheless, City are confident of signing Sane despite his £41.8m price. In addition, the Citizens are keen on bolstering their attack by signing two South American strikers.
The English club are chasing after Palmeiras striker Gabriel Jesus, but the attacker is valued at £26m. However, given the hype surrounding the Brazilian forward, it may not be an outrageous asking price.
Lastly, Manchester City are believed to have wrapped up the signing of Atlético Nacional’s Marlos Moreno for a fee of £8m. This means that should all three deals go through, it would total a spending of £103m.
