Real Madrid could sign Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes to pave way for James Rodriguez’s exit.

Real Madrid are closing in on Valencia midfielder Andre Gomes. The Portugal international could switch to the Santiago Bernabeu for 50 million Euros this summer. If the deal goes through, it could lead to the exit of James Rodriguez to Old Trafford. The Red Devils have been long-term admirers for the former Monaco man, and Gomes’ arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu could favor Jose Mourinho’s transfer plans.

Several reports in Spain claim that the Red Devils have had their bids for Andre Gomes turned down, as the midfielder favors a move to the La Liga giants. Coach Zinedine Zidane is said to be plotting to reinforce his midfield as his chances of signing Paul Pogba from Juventus are getting lower. The Frenchman is expected to seal a world-record move to his former club Manchester United. Zidane will therefore consider building his midfield around Luka Modric, Isco, Kovacic and Andre Gomes.
