Diego Costa could be on his way out of Chelsea this summer, according to Spanish publication AS.

The Spaniard had a dramatic and disappointing second season at the Stamford Bridge in 2015/16 as Chelsea found themselves wallowing at the bottom-half of the league table. The Blues have already signed a new striker Michy Batshuayi from Ligue 1 outfit Marseille. It is believed that the West London club is preparing for life without the Spanish forward as rumors of his expected return to Atletico Madrid continue to make rounds in Madrid, as claimed by AS.

However, Antonio Conte is reportedly keen on keeping the bullish forward at the club ahead of the new season. The Italian manager has been tasked with the responsibility of steering the English giants to league glory after a disappointing 2015/16 season that marked the departure of their title-winning manager Jose Mourinho. Mou was later signed by rivals Manchester United, a move that is expected to reignite the rivalry between the two league giants next season.

27-year-old Costa was one of the most lethal forwards for Los Colchoneros between 2010 and 2014. During that period, he scored 43 league goals in 94 appearances for the Madrid giants. He was part of the squad that won La Liga in 2013/14, the UEFA SUPER Cup in 2010 and 2012, the Copa del Rey in 2012/13 and emerged the runner-up in the UEFA Champions League of 2013/14.

At Chelsea, he won the League Cup and Premier League title in 2014/15. He has also scored 32 league goals for the Blues in 54 matches since his arrival at the Stamford Bridge in 2014.
