Broadcast info

Who's playing: After finishing in third spot during the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign, Roma will again try to knock Juventus off their Scudetto perch this season. The Giallorossi managed to salvage their campaign once Luciano Spalletti returned to the Stadio Olimpico in January. Given that they will have to navigate their way through a potentially tricky Champions League play-off tie, Roma are looking to make sure they head into the two-legged match next month as well-prepared as possible. Edin Dzeko is one player who will be keen on proving his worth to his manager after an overall disappointing showing last term.

The capital club's next opponents will be Russian outfit Terek Grozny. Led by Rashid Rakhimov, they finished seventh in the Russian Premier League last season. The team also made it to the quarter-finals of the Russian Cup before being narrowly defeated 1-0 by Krasnodar.

Team news

Roma

The Giallorossi will be coming into this friendly having strolled to a very comfortable win over lower division side Pinzolo. During the 16-0 rout, numerous players grabbed themselves a goal - or more, as was the case for Dzeko (four), Juan Iturbe (two) and Mohamed Salah (two). Although long-serving captain Francesco Totti was unable to play due to muscular problems, the match saw the debut of Brazilian shot-stopper Alisson as well as defender Mario Rui, who arrived on loan from Empoli earlier this month.

Stephan El Shaarawy, Norbert Gyömbér, Rajda Nainggolan, and Antonio Rüdiger are among notable players who did not feature, with the first three missing out due to participation in Euro 2016, whilst German international  Rüdiger unfortunately is still out due to injury. Meanwhile, key playmaker Miralem Pjanic will be playing his club football for reigning Scudetto champions Juventus after making a €32 million move to the Bianconeri last month.

Terek Grozny

Meanwhile, Terek Grozny are also in the midst of their pre-season preparations. They are currently on a three match winning streak since the start of the month, with Romanian midfielder Gheorghe Grozav having scored two out of the team's five goals during that period.

Naturally, Roma will represent a much tougher foe than teams like Lithuania's Zalgiris, Hungary's Szombathelyi Haladás, and Slovenia's NK Zavrč whom they beat 2-1, 2-0, and 1-0 respectively. However, pre-season fixtures are oftentimes unpredictable, and smaller teams have been able to pull off upsets against bigger sides who usually don't have all their key players available.
