Pep Guardiola has proven to be a no nonsense coach as he prepares to take Man City

Pep Guardiola’s reign at Manchester City has started on a bizarre note, according to The Sun. The online tabloid reports that the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has warned his new players against bringing pizza in the dressing room and eating out with WAGS after games.

The soft-spoken but no-nonsense manager is said to be planning to introduce a new rule that requires all players of the Citizens to eat together at the Etihad at least one hour after a match. The 45-year-old also introduced a similar rule during his tenure with the Spanish and German giants. Interestingly, during Manuel Pellegrini’s reign, scenes of players eating pizza and other junk foods were quite common. The Sun quotes a source close to the club as saying:

“He will want the squad to eat at the Etihad after games.

“He thinks it is vital for them to eat within one hour of games and even if it means telling the WAGS no dinner out tonight.

“That won’t go down too well with some of them. They usually eat pizza in the dressing room.”

The Citizens will fly out to Germany next week to face Pep’s former club Bayern Munich for their international friendly. They will then divert to China to face city rivals Manchester United on 25th July, Borussia Dortmund and then later Arsenal before launching their Premier League campaign against Sunderland.
