The Portuguese boss would be thinking about luring Cesc Fábregas away from the Blues if new coach Antonio Conte doesn't want him around.

Mourinho seems to have a Plan B if Paul Pogba's transfer doesn't happen.

According to a report by the Daily Mirror, Cesc Fábregas would be living his final minutes at Stamford Bridge, given that newly appointed coach Antonio Conte wants more muscle in midfield. With up to three potential signings involving players in the same position, the talented Spanish midfielder would be leaving the team he led to the 2014-2015 EPL title.

But his skills would still grace Premier League stadiums, as his former boss is plotting to lure him away to Old Trafford. Despite reports about a complicated relationship prior to his sacking back in December, José Mourinho would be interested in signing the Spanish midfielder if Conte decides he doesn't want him around. "Mou" got the best out of Fabregas during his second season with the Blues, and a possible reunion would be in the cards.

The 29-year-old was key in Chelsea's efforts to win the 2014-2015 Premier League & Capital One Cup.

Fabregas was one of the first players to voice his disappointment after Mourinho's sacking back in December. Reports from the UK suggested the coach and midfielder had a falling out which caused Mourinho's dismissal, but Fabregas' Twitter post clearly indicated otherwise.

Mourinho still needs a midfielder to complete his "puzzle" at Manchester United, following the signings of Eric Bailly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan & Zlatan Ibrahimovic. If Pogba's deal doesn't happen, Fabregas could fill that spot instantly.
