Chelsea and Arsenal may now have to look elsewhere for a new striker.

English Premier League clubs have been handed a huge blow in the summer transfer window, as Real Madrid have opted against selling Alvaro Morata and will thus keep him in Spain, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spanish striker recently made his return to the Bernabeu after the reigning Champions League winners resigned the player from Juventus, triggering the £23m buy-back clause inserted in his deal when he made to move to Turin.

Originally, Zinedine Zidane planned on selling the 23-year-old in order to help raise funds for a move for either Paul Pogba or Eden Hazard. Los Blancos, though, have pulled out of the race for the Juventus and Chelsea stars after their disappointing showing in UEFA Euro 2016.

Pogba – valued at £100m – now appears Man United-bound, thus relieving Real Madrid of the need to sell Morata. Furthermore, the Mirror report that the Spaniard has now been assured of a role in the first-team.

Chelsea and Arsenal were two clubs rumored to be after Morata, having impressed in the European Championship with La Furia Roja, but with Les Merengues now slapping a £64m buy-out clause on their young striker, the London duo are unlikely to go anywhere near him.
