The Argentine striker's wife and agent revealed that her husband was set to leave the club to join Atletico Madrid, something the club dismissed earlier today.

Inter Milan's fans can keep calm: Mauro Icardi is going nowhere.

Despite claims from the player's wife/agent Wanda Nara, Inter's captain and main striker will not be joining Atlético Madrid this summer. Nara claimed that the club wanted to part ways with the player, something that Inter's sporting director denied today.

"Icardi signed a new contract a year ago, we've made him our captain and he's not for sale. Anything else is just talk," Piero Ausilio stated.

The player scored 16 goals in 33 apps for the Nerazzurri in the recently concluded season.

The team's sporting director even criticized the way the player's wife spoke about the issue, prompting her to discuss such matters behind closed doors.

"It made me smile to be honest, but I do think it was the wrong time and the wrong place. You always have the opportunity to discuss these things but I feel it was done the wrong way. It should be done in private," Ausilio added.

The 23-year old striker had been linked previously to Arsenal, but according to the sporting director's words, he will continue playing for the black-and-blue side for quite some time.
