Cristiano Ronaldo’s mother Dolores Aveiro has opened up about her son’s injury at the European Championship against France. West Ham United midfielder Dimitri Payet collided with the Real Madrid star as the former was trying to snatch the ball away from the Portugal captain and engineer a quick counter attack in favor of the hosts.
As a result, the 31-year-old winger was sent off for treatment but the situation become worse moments after returning onto the pitch. He was finally substituted by coach Fernando Santos. And that is when a mother’s love came into play with this brilliant but emotional Tweet:
Eu não posso vê-lo desta forma o meu filho. O jogo é chutar a bola e não ferir o adversário.#Euro2016Final pic.twitter.com/TQ7u4ercpf

TRANSLATION: "I cannot see my son in this mood [crying]. The game is meant to kick a ball, not to hurt opponents.''
Ronaldo's Real Madrid team mate Gareth Bale also expressed his support and sympathy for the injured captain. He tweeted:
Terrible to see Cris come off like that. Hope it's nothing too bad
