Cristiano Ronaldo’s clash with Dimitri Payet in the finals of the European Championship gave Portugal fans a moment of nervousness. The Real Madrid forward, who also doubles up as Seleccao’s captain in this competition had to be sent off the pitch for further treatment for what seemed to be a thigh injury.
The 31-year-old star resumed action moments later after receiving treatment on the touchline. However, after a few minutes into the pitch, he was seen limping and coach Fernando Sanches had no other choice but to substitute him with Ricardo Quaresma. The captain was carried off the pitch on a stretcher as he broke down into tears.
