The Wales star helped his nation to the UEFA Euro 2016 semis and could thus be handed a longer break.

Wales superstar Aaron Ramsey recently admitted (as per the Daily Mail) that he is unlikely to make the start of the upcoming English Premier League, having finished his duty with his national side in the ongoing UEFA Euro 2016 tournament.

The Arsenal ace was one of several instrumental players in the Dragons’ remarkable march to the European Championship last 4, but saw his team get eliminated by Portugal from the stands, missing the semi-final game through suspension.

Wenger has thus handed the midfielder three weeks off to rest, with his return date set at August 1. With the 2016/17 season kick starting less than two weeks after his return, it appears unlikely that the 25-year-old will reach match fitness in time for the opening day.

“I am back on the August 1 so I have a few weeks off but obviously it kicks off a couple of weeks afterwards,' said Ramsey.

“A few years ago Germany won the World Cup and those players came in just a few days before the first game of the season but they missed that.

“So the manager does like to give players a little break and I’ll be getting the same treatment. I feel I need a few weeks off now.”

Unfortunately for the north London giants, they face a few tricky tests in their opening three games. First up for Arsenal is a home clash with Liverpool on the 14th before Wenger’s boys travel to defending champions Leicester City six days later.
