Andros Townsend has officially joined Crystal Palace from relegated side Newcastle United.

Premier League side Crystal Palace have completed the signing of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur star Andros Townsend. The England international has joined the Eagles on a five-year contract.

He was part of the Newcastle squad that was relegated to the Championship from the Premier League last season following a dismal performance. However, despite the relegation, Townsend was in superb form, scoring four goals and providing two assists in 13 appearances.

Speaking moments after the deal was officially announced, the 24-year-old said:

''I'm extremely delighted. I had chats with the manager and chairman before I signed and I'm pleased to a part of Crystal Palace's future.

''By the sounds of things it's going to be a bright one and I can't wait to get started.’’

Alan Pardew’s men opened their Premier League campaign on August 13 against West Bromwich Albion at Selhurst Park. After finishing 15th on the log last season with three points above the relegation zone, Pardew will hoping to improve his side’s performance in 2016/17 by bringing in fresh pair of legs this summer.
