With only seven games left to be played, there are several footballers with realistic hopes of becoming the Euro's top scorer. Which one has the best chance to do so?

The UEFA Euro 2016 has delivered a few shocks and some historic moments. As we head into the final seven games of the competition, there are a number of doubts that need to be sorted out, and one of those involves the tournament's top scorer.

As of now, three La Liga players dominate the rankings, with local boy Antoine Griezmann and Gareth Bale leading the way with three goals apiece. Right behind them, goal scoring machine Cristiano Ronaldo wants to become the competition's all-time scoring leader, and the only way to do so is by scoring at least two more goals.

Despite having a host of players with two goals in the tournament, these three strikers have shown they have what it takes to lead their national teams. Why do we believe they are the front-runners to take the trophy home? Let's have a look.

Gareth Bale

The Welshman is highly motivated by Real Madrid's 11th Champions League title a month ago, and his form has reflected on Wales' performance in the tournament. With three goals and one assist to his name, the speedy wingman owns all the credentials necessary to win the tournament's Golden Boot, considering that he has a direct influence in most of his team's offensive efforts. With two free kick goals so far, Bale's options will increase if he can help Wales beat Belgium in the Quarter-final stage, but he will have to take the necessary steps to avoid any untimely injuries, such as those that crippled his season with Real Madrid when Los Blancos needed him the most.

Bale is yet to score his first knockout stage goal with Wales in the Euros, following the team's Round of 16 win against Northern Ireland thanks to an own goal.

Antoine Griezmann

The hosts' superstar raised a few doubts earlier in the tournament, as he failed to make his presence felt during Les Bleus' opening match against Romania. But as the competition continued, Griezmann's influence in his team's performances became crucial, and his brace against Ireland is a good example of his class. But in order to become the tournament's top scorer, he will have to deal with Iceland, a team that has proven that all sides have the same chance to make it to the next round. Will he help the hosts make it to the next stage against the tournament's sensation?

Griezmann's late goal against Albania paved the way for Les Bleus in Group A.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The 31-year old striker's name is always mentioned when looking for a tournament's goal scoring leader. During the course of this competition, CR7 failed to score in his first two games, wasting a penalty kick in the process. A brace against Hungary and a couple of assists have him fighting for the Golden Boot, but he will have to show his best form against Poland's tough defenders. Taking under consideration that he has more shots on goal than most teams in the competition, CR7's chances of winning the award increase. The only thing he needs now is a bit more accuracy.

Cristiano Ronaldo had something to do in all of Portugal's goals in the tournament, but some feel that he still has more to offer.

Dimitri Payet: France's secret weapon?

The 29-year old footballer showed great skills during Les Bleus' first two games, scoring the game-winning goal against Romania and the team's second against Albania. His long-range shots provide France with an interesting weapon, which could come in handy against Iceland's defense, and given that he's fresh off the best season in his career, it wouldn't be a surprise if he ends up leaving all of the above empty-handed.

Payet's form might give him the edge over some of his competitors.
