Portugal's Nani has backed up fellow teammate Cristiano Ronaldo after his slow start to the tournament.

Fernando Santos' side have endured a tough UEFA Euro 2016 campaign thus far, as they have failed to secure any wins. Although many claimed Portugal was drawn to the easiest group of Euro 2016, their Group F opponents stood strong against the Portuguese players, as A Selecção finished as one of the four best third-place teams.

Ronaldo was pounded with criticism after he failed to carry his team to finish as winners or runners-up of the group. However, winger Nani believes the three-time Ballon D'Or winner has found his scoring touch after his brace against Hungary and will fire Portugal into the latter stages of this top-flight tournament.

Speaking at a general press conference, the 29-year-old midfielder said:

"Everyone knows Cristiano and what he can do at any time, in any minute in a game. I am 100 per cent sure he will go on and score more goals now.

"No one can say anything against him. He is a fantastic player. He showed it again against Hungary when everyone was talking about him - he has shut them all up now.

"I think Cristiano (Ronaldo) has always been there, always playing well for us throughout the tournament."

Regardless of Portugal failing to bag any wins in the group stage, Nani insists his team remains positive heading into their match against Croatia.

"Any team we play, we must believe we can win so it doesn't matter who we will face now.

"It will be difficult against Croatia. They have one day more than us to rest but we are professional, so we will get a quick rest and prepare for the game."
