After Portugal was held to a surprising 1-1 draw against Iceland in their opening Euro 2016 match, Ronaldo blasted Iceland for their style of play and 'small mentality.'

Debutants Iceland made their first official appearance at UEFA Euro 2016 memorable, as they managed to come back from a goal down to snatch a point against Fernando Santos's side.

Despite Ronaldo's mediocre performance against Lars Lagerbäck's men, the Real Madrid forward still stole the spotlight after his frustrating comments after the match.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, the 31-year-old striker had no words of praise for his opponents, but rather complained about their performance.

"It was a little bit frustrating, we tried hard to win the game, Iceland didn't try anything. They scored a goal, they created two chances in the 90 minutes but otherwise they got every player behind the ball. They put the bus in the net. "So it's difficult when one team doesn't try, but Portugal tried to play football and tried to win the game.

"Iceland didn't try anything, they were just defend, defend, defend and playing on the counter-attack. It was a lucky night for them."

Ronaldo, who created numerous of chances for his team, also criticized the newcomers' behavior following the final whistle.

"I thought they'd won the Euros the way they celebrated at the end, it was unbelievable.

"When they don't try to play and just defend, defend, defend, this in my opinion shows a small mentality and they are not going to do anything in the competition."

Can Portugal get back to winning ways against Group F opponents Austria?
