Daniel Sturridge believes England can do better in this year’s edition of the UEFA Euro 2016.

England and Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge has tipped his country to impress in France during the UEFA Euro 2016. The 26-year-old was speaking to reporters after a training session at England's camp in Chantilly on Tuesday morning.

He said:

"We know there will be a lot of eyes on us, but I think we will enjoy the occasion and thrive,

"The feeling is great. It’s probably a bit more relaxed than before because the group is younger. There’s a togetherness around camp. We’re just ready to go. It feels different."

The Englishmen sit in Group B alongside, Russia, Slovakia and Wales. They are widely seen as the favorites to win the group, or at least secure a spot in the knockout phase of the tournament.

The injury-prone Sturridge has made 18 appearances for his country and scored five goals. During the interview, he added:

"The past is the past and we’re not looking into that,"

"There are top class players at every position. We’re very prepared. The management team have put in a lot of work and we will have no excuses because we have all the information we need. Everyone is feeling happy. It’s the best [England camp] I’ve experienced."

Roy Hogdson’s men have never won the European Championship in their history despite participating eight times. Their best result was reaching the semi-finals of the 1996 edition. Before that, they had emerged third in the 1968 tournament.

The Englishmen will open their UEFA Euro 2016 campaign in France against Russia on 11th June at Stade Velodrome, Marseille.
