Spanish news outlet AS claim that the Special One will be announced as the Red Devils boss regardless of the result at Wembley.

Ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final between Crystal Palace and Manchester United, set to be played at the England’s famous Wembley stadium, AS claim that the 20-time Premier League champions will end months of speculation and announce Jose Mourinho as their new boss.

According to the Spanish news outlet, the confirmation will come immediately after the clash with The Eagles, regardless of the result. This means that the announcement could either come as a cherry on top of the cake if the Red Devils win, or as a silver lining should they fall to Tony Pulis’ crew.

This means that Louis Van Gaal’s reign at Old Trafford will come to an end, as his presumed boring style of football and inability to maintain positive result on a consistent basis spelled doom for the Dutch tactician.

The former Netherlands boss arrived at Man United in much hype, but has failed to win over the supporters, and has long been fighting with rumors of his sacking. The 64-year-old appeared destined to stay towards the end of the season, as his side were on track to pip rivals Man City to a Champions League spot.

However, Man United blew their opportunity of booking their ticket to Europe’s top-tier club competition next season after losing at West Ham, and now have to make do with a spot in the Europa League.

AS also report that the Special One will be handed a three-year deal by Ed Woodward and Co., with the former Chelsea boss in line to earn a €15m per season. In addition, with the current Man United players failing to flatter, England’s most valuable club will also hand the Portuguese tactician a huge transfer chest to rebuild the squad.

However, it remains to be seen whether the Red Devils will be able to attract world-class names, as they won’t be able to offer Champions League football. In addition, questions linger over whether Mourinho’s prestige has been tarnished by his atrocious 2015/16 campaign with the Blues.
