France will be the host nation for the 15th edition of the UEFA Euro Championship, which will take place from June 10 to July 10, 2016. So far, Les Bleus have won this title twice.

Squad

The French boast of one of the most powerful squads in this year’s tournament. They are made up of highly-talented youngsters who have been impressive across different leagues in Europe this season. For example, all eyes will be on the likes of Leicester City’s N’Golo Kante, Juventus’ Paul Pogba, and the free-kick wizard Dimitri Payet from West Ham United who are expected to stamp their authority at the midfield.

However, Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema will be conspicuously missing from this tournament following the unsolved blackmailing saga involving his teammate Mathieu Valbuena.

The France Football Federation announced that the 28-year-old would not participate in the tournament in order to maintain the ‘team spirit’ that was exhibited at the training camp in his absence. He further explained that the federation would not want disrupt the ‘team spirit’ by including the lethal forward in the national team squad.

Euro 2016 broadcasters in France

Euro 2016 matches will be telecast by four different French broadcasters. National channel TF1 will air 22 matches in HD, including two of France’s group stage encounters, whereas M6 will extend the availability of live free-to-air coverage with 11 matches, including the final from Stade de France in Saint-Denis.

Pay-TV broadcaster beIN Sports secured the rights to all 51 matches, 18 of which will be viewable exclusively on its network. Following an agreement with TF1, Franco-Monegasque TV channel TMC will also air one game from the group stage.
