The Brazilian full-back had a lot to smile about after the Blaugrana won the league crown

Saturday was a very special day for the Barcelona players, as the Blaugrana won 3-0 away to Granada to clinch their 2nd consecutive Liga BBVA crown, beating out rivals Real Madrid – who won 2-0 against Deportivo – to the title.

A hat-trick from Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez was enough to see the Catalan giants retain their Spanish Primeira Division title, as the former Liverpool striker also won the Pichichi after finishing the season with 40 goals.

One of several Barca players to have enjoyed this wonderful occasion – even possibly more so than Luis Suarez – was full-back Dani Alves, as the Selecao ace saw himself make the history books with his employers’ latest league title.

The Brazilian defender surpassed legend Pele as his nation’s most successful player in history, as his 30th piece of silverware was enough to see him overtake the three-time World Cup winner’s tally of 29.

Furthermore, the 33-year-old former Sevilla man registered his 100th assist for Barca, an impressive feat given that Lionel Messi (127) and Figo (105) are the only two other players have set up more goals in the last 20 years.

But it didn’t stop there, as Barca team-mate and captain Andres Iniesta also reached a wonderful milestone, leapfrogging legendary Blaugrana playmaker Xavi as Spain’s most successful player, with 29 titles to the Al Sadd ace’s tally of 28.
