The English center-back will soon be out of contract, but the Blues finally appear ready to keep their captain at Stamford Bridge.

The love affair between Chelsea and legendary captain John Terry may not end this season as initially expected, as the club have announced that the skipper has been offered a one-year extension.

The 35-year-old former Three Lions ace will be out of contract once this season ends, with interim boss Guus Hiddink admitting himself that he is unsure whether the Blues defender will remain at Stamford Bridge past this season.

However, the former English Premier League champions recently revealed that an extension has been put on the table for Terry, but the player is conspiring his options.

The London giants announced, via their official Twitter account: “It is announced in the press conference that John Terry has been offered a one-year contract extension. John is considering the offer.”

Terry has been an ever-lasting, integral figure at Chelsea, standing the test of time to still hold down as spot in the club’s starting eleven having made his debut in 1998.

The Blues faithful expressed their desire to see their captain stay in London in the 1-1 draw with Liverpool, having helped the club to five Premier League titles, 4 FA Cups, and a Champions League and Europa League win.

Should Terry turn down Chelsea's new short-term offer, he will not feature in front of the home crowd again, as he’ll miss Sunday’s Stamford Bridge clash with Leicester due to his suspension.

The English center-back could join a list of European talents to pack up their bags and head to China, as The Guardian report that there are offers for Terry from Shanghai SIPG and Jiangsu Suning.
