Mourinho’s Real Madrid Stronger As La Liga Continues With Racing Santander Match

Angela Asante, October 22 2010,
Real Madrid have started to find their rhythm under Jose Mourinho. Saturday’s Racing Santander match in La Liga might bring yet another moment of joy at the Bernabeu.

Los Blancos worked hard to achieve 97 points in La Liga last season, and it was rather surprising to see them still fail to land the title as rivals Barcelona earned 2 points more to claim it. In the Champions League, bad luck saw them crash out of the competition in the Round of 16 for the 6th year in a row. Meanwhile, Alcorcon made fun of Florentino Perez’s millionaires by ousting them from the Copa del Rey in the very early stages with a 4-1 aggregate win.

It’s obvious for many to look at Real Madrid’s 2009/2010 season as a fiasco, based on the astronomical sums of money which were splashed during the 2009 transfer window for the signature of superstars such as Kaka and Ronaldo. However, Florentino Perez and confident Real Madrid fans may love to explain that the club was actually investing for the future and not for an immediate miracle since we do know that “a team doesn’t get built overnight”.

The days of Manuel Pellegrini are over since quite some time now, and Jose Mourinho’s arrival from the San Siro to the Santiago Bernabeu seems to have perfectly inspired Los Blancos. They remain unbeaten in all competitions so far and Cristiano Ronaldo was keen to share the joy of the players with the media earlier this week.

“With Mourinho, everyone is happier. When things don’t run well, it’s normal for people to feel sad. But this season, things are going well. I thank God that everything is going well.

“[Jose] Mourinho is fantastic. I’m glad that he came here because with his experience and with all the titles that he has won, it’s great to work with him. I always said I wanted him to train me, and my team mates are also delighted to work with him.”

Some unsatisfied Real Madrid fans dare to boo Jose Mourinho and his players when events don’t go the teams’ way during matches. However, the “Special One” prefers to do focus on his mission in the Spanish capital which is to take Florentino Perez’s new generation of Galacticos all the way to glory.

There’s still a long way to go before this season ends, but the future is looking bright for Real Madrid under Jose Mourinho. Los Blancos will look to pursue their 100% home record this weekend when they’ll host Racing Santander at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga this season and the coach was happy to have things in order ahead of this match.

“We are satisfied with where we are right now, because I can say that we’ve all but qualified for the next round in the Champions League while playing in one of the toughest groups. In La Liga, we are also doing well,” Mourinho was quoted as saying by Real Madrid’s official website.

“We are a young team and that’s why people expect good things from us. We are building a team that will become great with time. But we can’t lose sight of the challenges ahead of us.

“We have to continue working. We are a tight-knit group and we keep a lid on our emotions. We are very calm. Every match we play is a new and more difficult challenge.”

Real Madrid are actually on top of La Liga standings as they prepare to host Racing Santander. However, they cannot take anything for granted as only 1 point separates them from 4th placed Valencia who count 16 points like 2nd and 3rd placed teams Villarreal and Barcelona respectively. After successfully accomplishing their task of defeating AC Milan earlier in the week, Los Blancos are expected to triumph over Racing Santander on Saturday.
