Where Is The Career Of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema Heading Under Mourinho?
Karim Benzema was supposed to be a hit at Real Madrid after the Frenchman left Lyon for the Santiago Bernabeu. But somehow, the promising striker is yet to click in Spain.

Karim Benzema is yet to shine at the Santiago Bernabeu. Jose Mourinho might be the right man to help him progress.
Will Jose Mourinho’s guidance help Benzema to open up and shine at Real Madrid? According to the player himself, he has put his trust and belief in Manuel Pellegrini’s successor as things start to look bright at the Bernabeu. In an interview during Intereconomica TV’s Punto Pelota, the French international talked about his career in the Spanish capital.
“I’m working hard to earn more playing time. Once I play, people will see what I’m capable of. I’m sure I’ll succeed with Real Madrid. I don’t have a single doubt about that,” Karim Benzema stated.
The player has been subject to exit rumors following his failure to settle at Real Madrid since his arrival in 2009.
Manchester United were reportedly willing to acquire his services and thus compete with other interested clubs such as Juventus and Manchester City. However, Benzema has no intention to leave Jose Mourinho and his group of players.
“I have the mindset to play here. I have to defend and run, and I’ll do just that,” he said.
“That’s fine. I’ll work harder to play more and to prove to everyone that I’m a good forward who can score a lot of goals and play pretty football.”
Karim Benzema then went on to praise the “Special One”, declaring:
“Mourinho is a great coach, and he has faith in me. He has told me that I need to run more. All the talking I do is on the pitch. What I like most about him is that he is daring. He is one of the best coaches I’ve ever had.
“I feel much more integrated now. My Spanish is better, and I understand almost everything. I love Madrid, but my favorite spot is the Santiago Bernabeu.”
Indeed, the culture in Spain might be one of the factors delaying Karim Benzema’s success at Real Madrid. But the striker now possesses the full support of Coach Jose Mourinho who made it clear ahead of the 2010/2011 season that the Frenchman’s name was “an important player in his book”.
There’s certainly still time for Karim Benzema to progress and to impress at the Santiago Bernabeu. Following their victory over AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, it seems like Real Madrid are really starting to merge as a team under the influence of Mou.
This year could be Karim Benzema’s moment to shine for Los Blancos, starting with this weekend’s La Liga match against Racing Santander. Benzema has made 6 appearances for Real Madrid so far and he has 1 goal in his name.
