His club said that tests had revealed "significant cartilage damage" after the striker suffered a knee injury during his side's 2-2 draw against Manchester City last Sunday.
As mentioned by Arsenal's latest statement on the striker's return, “Danny will miss the Euro 2016 Championship in the summer and his full recovery is expected to take approximately nine months."
The English man had just found his best form, scoring five goals in his last 15 appearances for the Gunners this season. In addition, Welbeck would have been selected to represent England for the Euros this upcoming summer after delivering a brilliant performance in the qualifying stage. The former Manchester United man was England's second-top goalscorer in Euro 2016 qualifying with six goals in five matches.
However, now the 25-year old will face nine months off the pitch, which has many supporters worried.
