Memphis Depay wants to know his official position at Man United.

Manchester United winger Memphis Depay held talks with manager Louis Van Gaal over his future at the club, as reported by The Sun. The former PSV star is said to be unhappy with LVG’s decision to leave him out of key games, most recently against Crystal Palace and Leiciester City. According to the English publication, the 22-year-old held private talks with the Dutch tactician last month to discuss his future at the club and the recent snub.

Although he returned to face Norwich City last weekend, he still seemed like a pale shadow of his former self. Back in PSV, Depay scored 22 goals in 30 league games for the Dutch giants before sealing a £25m move to Old Trafford. He was also named Talent of the Year and Top Scorer of the Dutch league when he returned to his former club to officially bid them goodbye late last year.

However, according to former Man United great Paul Scholes, the youngster still deserves more time to prove himself at Old Trafford. The former footballer-cum-TV pundit said:

"You give him [Depay] another year, he's a young lad you have to remember.

"He's had moments of being very good in games and moments of being shocking really.

"I think he's another one who has to stay fit and give him one, possibly two, more years.’’

He added:

"He's a young lad and there's definitely a talent there. He did great in Holland. He did great for Holland. This league is a lot tougher but I think there is potential there with him.

"If you get the ball to him more often than this team seems to do then maybe there will be a player in him."

Meanwhile, the Red Devils travel to Upton Park to face West Ham United on Tuesday for a do-or-die battle. They need nothing less than a win to regain the fourth place position currently occupied by their rivals Man City.
