Tottenham midfielder Mousa Dembele faces a lengthy suspension after his ugly encounter with Diego Costa during last Monday's dramatic 2-2 draw against Chelsea.

The FA has given a six-game ban to the English Premier League player, resulting in the end of his season.

Futhermore, the Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has announced that his Belgian player has accepted Football Association's charge of violent conduct due to his attempt to gouge Diego Costa's eye, which has resulted in a lengthy ban for the Belgian man.

Speaking to the press conference, the Argentina native confesses his team may have "crossed the line", but believes it has just shown their character and passion they had for the title race. Nonetheless, the draw at Stamford Bridge made it mathematically impossible for the Spurs to catch up to Claudio Ranieri's men as Leicester City were crowned the new champions of England.

"I think even if you play sometimes football with your friends, if you play for the honour, for the beers, or for the sandwiches, you want to win," Pochettino said.

"When you run and you go for the title, it is difficult sometimes to keep calm. I feel very proud of my players. I think we showed big character."

"Sometimes we crossed the line and if you cross the line you need to pay. We know the rules but I think it is a good lesson for us."

"We need to learn a lot and I am sure we will be stronger next season."
