Earlier this week in Italy, the Serie A title race was decided, with Juventus clinching the Scudetto for a fifth straight season. Over in England, weekend could see Leicester City's amazing Cinderella story also reach its conclusion should the Foxes beat Manchester United.
And in Germany, the Bundesliga title is for all intents and purposes already in Bayern Munich's hands. It's just a matter of when die Roten are actually able to finally celebrate it, with Borussia Dortmund keen on pushing the race all the way until the end of this season.
Bayern Munich
Although there are there rounds of Bundesliga action left to play, Pep Guardiola's men will naturally have their minds focused on a bigger game coming up next week. Having lost the first leg of their semi-finals tie with Atletico Madrid, Bayern will face a tough, but not impossible task on Tuesday if they want to feature in their first Champions League final since 2013.
Los Rojiblancos currently hold a one goal advantage, courtesy of an impressive first-half goal from Saul, but anyone who has watched Diego Simeone's men know that Atletico are one of the strongest defensive sides on the continent. Guardiola will have to decide how to effectively manage his squad in order to make sure that die Roten pick up all three points from this match so as not to allow Dortmund any room to force their way back into the title race. At the same time, however, he will need to keep key players fresh for the must-win match coming up in just a few days' time.
Although upcoming opponents Borussia Moenchengladbach have had their struggles this season, Guardiola and his men will know that the visitors are not a team to be taken lightly. Die Fohlen were the first side to beat Bayern in Bundesliga play all season when they defeated them 3-1 on December 5th.
Borussia M'gladbach
André Schubert's side have picked up just two wins from their past five games, but presently sit in fifth place, which so far gurantees them a spot in the Europa League for the 2016/2017 season. A big concern, however, for Schubert will certainly be the team's dismal away form, which has seen them pick up just one point so far from their road games in 2016.
However, they have managed to frustrate the Bavarians as of late. In their past three matches, they have picked up two wins and a draw against die Roten, and will be certainly hoping to thwart Bayern as they hope to make history on Saturday.
Should Bayern win against Gladbach this weekend, they will become the first German side to win four consecutive Bundesliga titles.
