Meanwhile, Newcastle United, having sacked their manager, are seeking to make a late push of their own - to avoid relegation to the Championship - with just a handful of games remaining in the 2015/2016 Premier League season.

Liverpool will be coming into this game having cruised to a resounding 4-0 win over Everton in the Merseyside Derby, which made it a third straight wins for Jurgen Klopp's men. If one adds their impressive comeback against Klopp's former side Borussia Dortmund in an enthralling Europa League tie, the Reds have picked up four consecutive victories across all competitions.
With a tough semi-finals clash against Villarreal coming up next week, the German tactician will want his side to continue in this same rich vein of form. Liverpool, of course, have not given up their hopes at clinching a European football spot, but should they win the Europa League, they will qualify for the Champions League - regardless of whichever place they ultimately finish at the end of this term.
Unfortunately, young striker Divock Origi, who was on a hot scoring streak with five goals in his past five matches across all competitions, was injured during the team's match with Everton earlier this week. As a result of a serious ankle injury, the Belgian international will not be able to feature for quite some time, meaning that Daniel Sturridge will be the undisputed number one choice striker for the rest of the season.
Additional absentees for Liverpool will include captain Jordan Henderson, Christian Benteke, and Emre Can. Although the hosts have not lost to Newcastle at Anfield since April 16, 1994, they did lose the reverse fixture earlier this season 2-0.
Newcastle United
Although Newcastle have earned four points from their last two games, the Magpies are not out of danger yet. Rafa Benitez's side are still in 19th place are will need to obviously pick up as many points as possible from their last four in order to guarantee themselves top-flight status for the upcoming season.
The Spanish tactician, who signed a three-year deal - but with an exit clause - will be facing a very tough task as he hopes to guide his new team against his former squad. Anfield, of course, is where he spent six years and led them to Champions League glory, which has forever endeared him to the Liverpool faithful.
Newcastle will arrive having secured a draw against Manchester City in a match that was marred by controversy as it was revealed that Aguero's goal was offside, but nonetheless, Vurnon Anita's effort was enough to salvage a point.
The visitors have a poor away record, with just two wins out of their 17 road fixtures, but as noted before, they did defeat Liverpool earlier this season. Can they pull off what would be a shock win at Anfield - which would be their first in over two decades?
