Jose Mourinho has reportedly turned down an offer to manage the Syrian national football team.

Former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly turned down a new job offer as reports linking him with a move to Old Trafford intensify.

According to his agent Jorge Mendes, the Portuguese tactician had received an offer to manage the Syrian national football team. The ex-Chelsea and Real Madrid reportedly turned down the offer, although he expressed his gratitude for being considered for the job. The 53-year-old has been without a club since partying ways with the Stamford Bridge side last December.

Here is a copy of the letter from the Syrian Football Association:

Mourinho has been linked with a move to Old Trafford to replace Louis Van Gaal in the summer. According to The Sun, the experienced but controversial manager is reportedly looking for a house in Cheshire as he prepares for the new job at the English club. The Syrian Football Federation was banking on Mourinho’s vast experience to steer them to their first ever World Cup finals but it seems they will have to look elsewhere especially after parting ways with coach Fajr Ibrahim.
