Liverpool fans, brace yourselves: Italian striker Mario Balotelli could be set for a return to his English Premier League club after failing to impress on loan with AC Milan.
This is according to Rossoneri chief executive Adriano Galliani, who revealed that they are yet to be convinced to take on the Azzurri forward on a permanent deal.
The 25-year-old forward returned to San Siro on a season-long deal after a horrible debut season in England in which he managed only 16 appearances and 1 goal for the Reds.
"We really like Mario, but he has to convince us to earn a permanent deal," said Galliani as per Sky Sports.
"Mario is feeling well. He is desperate to stay here at Milan. But like I have said before, he does not merit a permanent deal at the moment."
Super Mario, who also spent time with Inter and Man City, secured a second spell with AC Milan after scoring 30 goals in 54 appearances in 2013 and 2014 for the Serie A giants in his first spell.
His second spell, though, has not been very impressive, as Balotelli has only found the back of the net three times in 17 outings for Siniša Mihajlović’s boys.
Once a very promising striker, the Italian is now struggling with form, as he appears on the edge of missing out on his national team’s Euro 2016 squad.
