The team from the North benefitted from André-Pierre Gignac's skills to earn their spot in the final, while Las Águilas needed overtime to eliminate Santos.

After two very close semi-final matchups, Tigres and Club América will battle to determine the 2015-2016 CONCACAF Champions League winner. This will be a re-edition of the 2014 Apertura tournament final in Mexico, which saw Las Águilas taking home the trophy.

After both first legs ended with goal-less draws, the away teams needed to score to complicate things for the hosts. Unfortunately for them, Querétaro and Santos were unable to make their presence felt despite ending their games with more men on the pitch.

Tigres faced Querétaro at Estadio Universitario, where a brace by French striker André Pierre Gignac during the final moments of the game paved the way for Los Tigres to play their fifth final in two years. The Frenchman scored the opener after 84 minutes, and sealed the deal four minutes later with a well-placed shot. Gignac has been crucial for Tigres in the tournament, scoring when his side needed him the most during the Quarter finals against Real Salt Lake and then again while facing the Mexican side.

The second game of the evening was even more excruciating, as América and Santos needed extra time to seal their spot in the final. América were down to ten men thanks to an irresponsible tackle by Darwin Quintero, and when things seemed tougher for the hosts, a baffling display by goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin gave them a life line and helped them reach the tournament's final match for the second season in a row.

The title games will be played on April 20th and April 27th. First off, Tigres will host América at Estadio Universitario. One week later, Las Águilas will try to repeat their performance from December of 2014, where they strolled past the team from the North with a 3-0 score and eventually won the Apertura 2014 title.
