German goalkeeper Manuel Neuer even confessed that their Tuesday opponents may prove tricky to overcome.

German giants Bayern Munich return to Champions League action on Tuesday, as Pep Guardiola’s boys get ready to host Benfica in the first of their two-legged quarter-final match-up.

Having won the last 10 home games in the Champions League, die Roten are tipped favorites to win in the midweek tie, having also beaten the Eagles in all three of their home and away contests in Europe.

The Bundesliga holders came out victorious against Benfica in their previous run-ins back in 1976, 1981, and 1995; nonetheless, the club’s Spanish boss admits that the Portuguese giants will be a tricky opponent to overcome.

“We’ll play against a good team in Benfica. I’m impressed by their fitness and ideas. Their defense might be the best in Europe right now," Pep said in a pre-match press conference.
