Ahead of El Clasico on Saturday, Real Madrid were handed two injury worries, as Zinedine Zidane prepares his boys for the trip to Camp Nou.
With only one day remaining before Barcelona will host Los Blancos on Saturday, the 10-time Champions League winners were given the scary prospect of facing the Blaugrana without influential midfielder Toni Kroos and young center-back Raphael Varane.
The latter of the two Real Madrid players appears destined to miss the weekend clash, as the soleus calf muscle problem that the French defender picked up whilst on international duty flared up again.
This is as per Marca, with the Spanish news outlet writing that the 22-year-old missed out on the last training session before the Barca fixture due to his injury.
The Frenchman’s absence will be bad, but not decisive, as Zidane will still have his preferred center-back partnership of Sergio Ramos and Pepe ready to start.
The other injury scare involved Real Madrid’s influential German midfielder, who had to leave the training session to be treated by the team doctors after colliding with Jese Rodriguez.
Marca claim that there is no further news on whether Kroos will miss Saturday’s game, but AS report that the former Bayern Munich ace returned to training with “no significant side-effects” shortly after treatment.
