This is despite the fact that it was the Special One who sold the 22-year-old to Everton during his reign at Chelsea.

Red Devils striker Romelu Lukaku may find himself with the Red Devils, working with the unluckiest of manager: Jose Mourinho.

The 22-year-old Everton attacker recently opened the door to a Goodison Park after revealing to Sky Sports News his desire to play in the Champions League next season, something the Toffees can’t offer the Belgian ace.

Little expect Lukaku to work with the Special One once more, especially given the fact that it was the Portuguese tactician who ended the former Chelsea man’s Stamford Bridge days.

However, this could now be the case, as the English Premier League striker hinted in an interview with La Derniere Heure over rumors linking him with Man United – a club which Mourinho looks destined to take over next season – that he’s done enough to impress Jose.

“Some people will say that I need to convince him [Mourinho] but it’s not a question of that. Three years ago I was 20 and I wasn’t ready to be immediately effective in a top team. Several good seasons, including the current one, have changed the situation. I’ll be 23 (in May) and I could leave this summer,” Lukaku told the Belgian newspaper.

The 20-time Premier League champions have long been linked with a star striker, as Anthony Martial, Memphis Depay, and Wayne Rooney have struggled to find the back of the net regularly.

However, as stated by Lukaku himself, his desire is to play in the Champions League, but it remains unknown whether the Red Devils will qualify for Europe’s top-tier club competition.

Louis Van Gaal’s boys are in the mix for a top four finish, but will have to beat West Ham (5th) and Man City (4th) for that last Champions League spot.
