AFCON 2017 Qualifiers – What to Watch

Matchday 4 of the 2017 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers ends on March 29 with three interesting matches. Following Chad’s withdrawal from the qualification on Sunday, Group G has been reshuffled as points accumulated by other group contenders through their matches against Les Sao have been cancelled.

This means Egypt, who now sit on top of Group G with 4 points out of two validated games, are currently the only team in position to advance to the final tournament. Second place Nigeria – now deprived of their chances of qualifying based on rankings – however stand a chance of turning things around when they face the Pharaohs away at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.

That massive match kicks off at 1pm ET / 7pm local time with live TV coverage on SuperSport in Africa.

The other game not to miss is in Group I, where African Champions Ivory Coast will attempt to continue their unbeaten run when they play Sudan at the Al-Merrikh Stadium in Omdurman. A third win in the qualifiers would extend the Elephants’ lead to four points at the top of the standings by the end of this international break.

Finally, the game in Group M between third place South Africa and leaders Cameroon has also been getting a lot of interest. Broadcast live on SuperSport in both countries, the match will kick off at 1pm ET / 7pm local time at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
