And his first piece of agenda once Man United boss will be to pluck a London rival of their star striker.

Speculations linking Jose Mourinho with the Man United job, and Louis Van Gaal with the axe, have long been dominating the headlines, but have now received new updates after a long hiatus.

As written by Madrid-based newspaper El Pais, The Special One has put pen to paper on a pre-agreement which will all but ensure him the title of Van Gaal’s successor once the Red Devils part ways with the under-fire Dutchman.

This is according to journalist Diego Torres, the man who wrote a book on the Portuguese boss’ time as Real Madrid manager, claims that Jose in entitled to £5m from the 20-time Premier League champions should if a final contract has not been signed by May 1st.

Should this failure to sign a final contract continue until June 1st, Manchester United will then have to pay Mourinho an additional £10m on top of the previous £5m from the month earlier.

This clause is seen as an insurance policy or the out-of-job former Chelsea tactician, as he faces opposition in the race to take over the helms at Man United from legendary figures Sir Alex Ferguson and Sir Bobby Charlton.

Although with Jose Mourinho comes baggage – lots and lots of baggage – the 53-year-old has a proven track record of delivering silverware, and will look to bring one of England’s hottest strikers once touching down in Manchester.

According to Miguel Delaney of The Independent, Mourinho will look to lure Tottenham superstar Harry Kane to the Theatre of Dreams in order to aid United’s goalscoring problems, with the English striker being target no.1.

However, Delaney claims that signing Kane will prove difficult due to a number of reasons, with the Three Lions ace excited with Pochettino’s Spurs project, Daniel Levy’s unwillingness to do business with Man United, and an asking price of around £60m.
