High-flying Premier League side Liverpool travel to the St. Mary’s Stadium to face Southampton FC in their Premier League fixture.

The Saints are hoping to register their first back-to-back win since February but on the other hand, Jurgen Klopp’s men are looking for their fourth win in a row this season.

The Merseyside club is suffering from inconsistency since Brendan Rodgers’ departure in October. But lately, they have managed to prove that they still have what it takes to regain their past glory. The Reds come into this fixture fresh from eliminating their rivals Manchester United from the Europa League hence booking a date with Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.

But before facing the Bundesliga title-contenders, Jurgen Klopp’s men will want to prove themselves against domestic sides in order to gain the much-needed momentum ahead of the epic Europa League clash dubbed the ‘Klopp Derby or ‘El Kloppico.’

Liverpool also have a strong attack force led by the Brazilian duo of Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, alongside the lethal but injury-prone Daniel Sturridge. In fact, Firmino is the club’s leading goal scorer with nine goals this season and is hoping to score in his third consecutive game when they visit The Saints on Sunday.

On the other hand, Ronald Koeman’s men sit at the seventh spot, but share the same points with their weekend visitors (44). The St. Mary’s side have their eyes fixed on a European spot, which is five points away. To achieve that, they will have to cruise past Liverpool on Sunday and maintain the momentum in the remaining eight games.

They come into this fixture having beaten Stoke City 2-1 last weekend in a nervy encounter thanks to a brace from Graziano Pelle. Given the fact that they have difficult fixtures ahead, which include the likes of league leaders Leicester City, Everton, Manchester City and Spurs, Koeman’s men have to start picking maximum points as early as Sunday when the Kops come calling.
