The Brazilian born striker was involved in quite a few controversies that forced coach Vicente del Bosque to leave him out of the friendly games vs Italy & Romania.

At long last, Diego Costa's brawling personality was punished by one of his coaches.

The Spanish striker will have to watch Spain's upcoming friendlies at home, after coach Vicente del Bosque decided to leave him out of the squad that will face Romania and Italy. Spain's attacking force seems to be in need of Costa's form, but the seasoned manager decided to punish his recent behavior and listened to the crowd that demanded an opportunity for Athletic Bilbao's Aritz Aduriz. Paco Alcácer and Álvaro Morata will battle the Basque center forward for a place in the starting lineup.

Costa hasn't been as influential as he would've liked in his call ups with La Roja, scoring only one goal in ten games for the Spanish team. Added to his struggles to deliver for the current Euro holders, his recent behavior with Chelsea forced him out of the squad months before the tournament, jeopardizing his spot in the continental competition.

Costa's behavior even forced Chelsea's interim coach to ask him to control his temper. During his pre-match press conference, Blues' boss Guus Hiddink revealed he had a conversation with the striker, in which he requested him to get a hold of himself.

"We were happy with his performances, and we still are. But we've talked about his 'on the edge' approach, and he knows he needs to slow down. If he keeps calm, there's still hope for him to succeed," Hiddink stated.
