Despite winning four consecutive games in all competitions from February 22 until March 2, back-to-back losses to West Brom in the Premier League and Liverpool in the Europa League have seen the Louis Van Gaal critics resurface.
The Dutchman witnessed his boys fall to a 2-0 defeat at Anfield in Europe on Thursday, but must rally up his troops and move on in time for Sunday’s FA Cup tie against West Ham, with a spot in the semi-finals at stake.
Speaking at a press conference ahead of the weekend Old Trafford affair, the 64-year-old was drilled by one reporter as to whether his style of football is working at the Red Devils, given that a top-four finish is drifting further away.
Van Gaal’s response: “I think it is working.”
“When you analyze what we’ve done this season and last season, then you cannot say that [Man United’s style isn’t working],” added the former Netherlands boss.
