Serie A side Roma may be out of the competition, but this will be a night Francesco Totti will not forget soon.
With 17 minutes left in the game, and with Roma trailing against Real Madrid, coach Luciano Spalletti decided to substitute Stefan El Sharaawy with the Italian playmaker. As the historic player made his way into the pitch, Real Madrid fans stood up from their seats to give him a standing ovation, which was extended for more than a minute. Totti also shook hands with Marcelo and Casemiro, who paid their respects to a footballer who chose to maintain his loyalty to only one club.
Real Madrid fans are not known for praising other team's players, but this year they've done it twice. Back in October, Los Blancos' supporters praised Andrés Iniesta's performance during El Clásico, and now Totti can let his offspring know he received a standing ovation from one of the most particular home crowds in European football.
