Three years after the Scottish manager retired, the Mexican striker shared his views on his former Man United striker, describing him as 'the best'.

Javier Hernández has always acknowledged Sir Alex Ferguson's influence in his life, but some fans may find it interesting to know that, even after three years of not sharing a locker room with the Scottish boss, Hernández still keeps in touch with the coach that gave him his first shot with a European club.

In an interview with BBC, Bayer Leverkusen's top scorer revealed that Ferguson still keeps in touch with him, particularly, when the Mexican striker is about to play a big game.

"When we played in the Champions League, before the Atlético Madrid game, we texted. I saw him in two games before, and we have a lot of contact as well. When I was going to Madrid...I spoke with him in person, I went to his house. We keep in contact as much as we can,"Hernández told BBC.

Hernández has scored 23 goals in 29 games for Bayer Leverkusen in his maiden season for the German side.

The striker, who has already broken his personal record for most goals in one season, even went on and established he holds no grudge against former coach Louis Van Gaal, despite all the controversy generated by his departure from Manchester United back in August.

"Obviously I was disappointed for not having his trust, but in the end he was very honest. He told me that if I get a good offer and the club likes it and I like it, then he would be happy to let me go," "Chicharito" added.

The Mexican ace will not be able to perform for Bayer Leverkusen this weekend after being booked against Werder Bremen on Wednesday. "Chicharito" is the fourth most prolific scorer in the Bundesliga this season, having scored 14 goals in 20 games for Die Werkself in the domestic tournament.
