The Brazilian striker wants to play in the Copa América Centenario and the Summer Olympics with Brazil, but their coaches have a different idea.

Neymar's chances of winning one of this summer's tournaments with A Canarinha could be handed a serious blow, considering his coaches don't want the player to work overtime if he doesn't have to.

Brazilian coach Dunga, who included Neymar in the 30-men squad that will play the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil, hinted that despite the player's wishes, he may not be able to play on both tournaments for the Verdeamarelha side, considering the impact this could have on his fitness.

"We have not even talked with Barca coach Luis Enrique. We're seeing. Our intention is to talk to the clubs and see the best formula, not hurt anyone. We have to speak personally to the player and find a good solution for everyone," Dunga admitted to FourFourTwo after the Copa América draw yesterday.

Neymar's presence in the historic tournament has been questioned recently, since the South American striker will barely enjoy time to recover from a long season if Barcelona makes it all the way in all comps.

The Brazilian ace ranks fifth among Brazil's all-time top scorers with 46 goals.

Nevertheless, Neymar wants to redeem himself after a disappointing Copa América performance, where he played only two games and failed to make a difference for A Canarinha.

Dunga's words were backed up by Barcelona's coach Luis Enrique, who clearly understands why Neymar wants to play both tournaments with Brazil. Despite knowing his desire to play in front of his countrymen, the Blaugrana coach only wants the player to remain healthy for next season.

It’s a special situation for any athlete: the Olympic Games in your home country. We will discuss it, because it’s complicated. There are competitions here and that carry weight. Neymar also has the Copa America Centenario, and we need to observe the physical aspect. We are looking for a lighter load that benefits the player himself," Luis Enrique stated in an interview with Universo Online.

Neymar's wishes of playing both tournaments may be fueled by the Brazilian's lack of silverware in recent years. A Canarinha has failed to win any major tournament since 2007, when they defeated Argentina in the Copa América final. On the other hand, Brazil has never won the Gold Medal in the Summer Olympics, losing three final games including the 2012 London Olympics against Mexico.
